Ancient Rome Gameshow

Ancient Rome Game show
A first year light entertainment project in which a game show was hosted in a historical time period.

I chose to base my design around Ancient Rome as I felt it had lots of potential for interesting design and entertaining games. I decided to combine this time period with the format of Total Wipeout, having chunky scenery representing major landmarks of the time. Each landmark would be the focus of a game.

Key features included a question area on the steps of the Coliseum, Gladiator battles on top of pillars, swimming across a Roman Bath, climbing a Trimuphal Arch among others, and then a combination of all the areas in the final.

The set was to be built in studio with a painted cyclorama surrounding it. In front o the cyclorama I designed a replica for the Coliseum to house the set and create a recognisable backdrop. This would also provide lots of options for dramatic floor lighting from behind.
